Black-whiskered Vireo

 These vireos are not shy and come regularly into gardens and shade trees in Key West. They may also be seen in the dense scrub and tropical hammocks in the Upper Keys and occasionally in coconut palms and mangroves around Miami. They eat insects and, rarely, berries and other soft fruits.

description 5 1/2" (14 cm). Similar to the Red-eyed Vireo (olive green above, white below), but with a dusky streak below the eye that gives bird its name. Streak is often hard to see, and bird is best identified by voice.
