Family: Scolopacidae, Sandpipers view all from this family
Description Breeding male recalls Hudsonian, with variably orange-red body plumage, spangled brown and black on back; note that tail is barred (not black and white) and wings are uniform, without Hudsonian's striking white wing bar. In winter, recalls Marbled, but bill is shorter and plumage is gray-buff overall, with whitish underwings (lacks Marbled's warm buff tone). The juvenile, the plumage most often seen south of Alaska, has a warm buff tone, while Marbled is reddish brown.
