Description The ladyfish or ten-pounder, Elops saurus, is a tropical species of ray-finned fish. It is slender and silver in appearance. It is a piscivorous fish with a relatively large gape that it uses to suction-feed. It is found in coastal regions of the tropical west Atlantic.
Dimensions Up to 3'3" (99 cm).
Habitat Ocean or bay shallows, Estuaries, tidal flats & salt marshes, Rivers & streams.
Range New England, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Florida, Texas.
