Dimensions 7/8-1 3/8" (22-35 mm).
Endangered Status The Pawnee Montane Skipper, a subspecies of the Leonard's Skipper, is on the U.S. Endangered Species List. It is classified as threatened in Colorado. At the time this butterfly was listed, its hillside habitat in the Platte River Canyon was threatened by the proposed Two Forks Dam, which would have inundated it. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency blocked construction of the dam, but future plans to build a reservoir in the area may be proposed. Because the Pawnee Montane Skipper lives in a limited range in low numbers, it is vulnerable to any changes to its ecosystem, such as those that can be caused by fire or flood.
Habitat Freshwater swamps, marshes & bogs, Meadows & fields.
Range Great Lakes, Rocky Mountains, New England, Eastern Canada, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Plains.
