Description The Gray Hairstreak (Strymon melinus), is one of the most common hairstreaks in North America, ranging over nearly the entire continent. It occurs also throughout Central America and in northern South America.

Dimensions 1-1 1/4" (25-32 mm).

Habitat Shorelines & salt marshes, Forests & woodlands, Cities, suburbs & towns, Meadows & fields, Grasslands & prairies.

Range Northwest, Rocky Mountains, Florida, Southwest, Texas, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Southeast, Eastern Canada, California, Great Lakes, Plains, Western Canada.
