Description Adult has pure white plumage, with black legs and eye, and yellow-tipped blue bill. First-winter is similar, but with grubby black face markings and black spots on upperparts and wingtips.

Habitat Feeds on carrion, and vagrants are sometimes attracted to tide-line cetacean corpses.
Range Western Canada, Eastern Canada, Alaska
Discussion Beautiful Arctic gull. Breeds on Canadian high Arctic islands and Greenland, winters mainly in Arctic seas. Vagrants occur further south in winter.
