Description A 1-2 ft. perennial, occasionally annual, with several stems which are leafy nearly to the summit. Leaves are dissected into linear segments. Flower heads are few or solitary on leafless peduncles. The showy ray flowers (petals) are bright yellow.

Range S.e. U.S., inland to Missouri, e. Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas; introduced elsewhere.
