Description A mat-forming perennial with long, linear basal leaves in lowland plants; short, linear leaves in more upland specimens. White, five-petaled flowers occur singly just above the needle-like leaves.


Habitat Dry ridges; rocky, mountain slopes; tundra.


Range Alaska and Yukon; also n.e. Asia.


Exposure Preference Sun to partial shade.


Native Distribution Alaska & Yukon; also n.e. Asia


Site Preference Dry ridges; rocky, mt. slopes; tundra


Soil Preference Dry, gravelly soils.
