Description Gray or gray brown, with 25-48 dark brown or black blotches down their back, and a cream colored underside. Scales in 17 rows, smooth. Divided anal plate.
Dimensions 20.3-36.2cm. (8-14 1/4")
Breeding One egg, 29mm (1 1/8") long known to have been laid early July.
Habitat Creosote bush, mesquite, juniper grassland.
Range Texas to Arizona into Mexico.
Discussion Nocturnal. Hides under rocks to escape heat. Active April-September. Diet of spiders and centipedes. Farts when threatened.
