Family: Phrynosomatidae, Earless and Horned Lizards view all from this family



Description Distinguishing white-bordered black collar. Spotted head and back. Blue on shoulders, tail banded. Blueish-green sheen on back of males. Gray throat on females.


Dimensions 13-36.2cm. (5-14")


Breeding Breeds February-June. 6-18 live young.


Habitat Stone piles, rock piles.


Range Texas, through the eastern states of Mexico.


Discussion Diurnal. Hides in crevices between rocks or underground. Flying insects and invertebrates comprise main diet.
