Description Smalle keeled back scales. Granular side scales, scales on neck smaller than on back. Bluish gray with 2 parallel lines of spots down back. Line on neck to shoulder.
Dimensions 11-15.9cm. (4 1/2-6 1/4")
Subspecies Merriam's Canyon lizard - Tail without bands. Texas to nw. Mexico.
Big Bend Canyon lizard - Tail has dark bands. Brester County, Texas.
Presidio Canyon Lizard - throat has dark bars. Presidio County, Texas.
Breeding Spring/summer. Hatch July. Often more than 1 clutch of eggs per season.
Habitat Canyons, rocks without vegetation.
Range Texas to Mexico.
Discussion Diurnal. Easily approachable and and not very wary.
