Description Body flat. Pointed scales on trunk that form a fringe. Smooth scales on midbelly, slightly keeled on chest.
Dimensions 8.8-16.7cm. (3 1/2-6 1/2")
Breeding Breeds in Summer. Multiple clutches laid July-August, 17-28 eggs in a clutch. Hatch September-October.
Habitat Openly spaced desert vegetation such as mesquite, creosote bush, and saguaro cactus
Range Arizona into Mexico.
Discussion Diurnal. Active early morning and before sunset. Extends legs and deflates lungs, if caught. Goes rigid. Can spout blood from its eyes to defend itself.
