Description Brown/gray. Body egg shaped. Pointed head. Reddish stripe down back. Skin partially hides limbs. Spades on hind feet.

Dimensions 5.1-8.9cm. (2-3 1/2")

Voice Guttural moan.

Breeding In temporary pools from rainfall. Eggs laid in clusters that float on the surface. Eggs hatch after a few days.

Habitat Cultivated & forested areas.

Range S. Texas through Mexico.

Discussion Nocturnal. Inflates body to protect itself. Diet includes termites.
