Voice Rasping trill. Repeated often.

Breeding February-April.

Habitat Temperate forests, rivers, intermittent rivers, swamps, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marches, ponds, open excavations, and canals and ditches.

Range Virginia to Georgia coastal plain.

Discussion Nocturnal. Changes color according to location, activity & temperature.
