Description Bright light-dark green. Stripe along upper jaw.
Dimensions 3.2-6.4cm. (1 1/4-2 1/4")
Voice Similar to cow-bell. The closer one gets it's a quank quank.
Breeding March-October.
Habitat Trees/shrubland near water.
Range Florida, Alabama, s. Georgia, Louisiana, Delaware, e. Maryland and Virginia, e. North and South Carolina, e. Texas, and along the Mississippi Valley to s. Illinois.
Discussion Congregates in groups of up to 700. One of the few that doesn't jump, prefers to walk. Leaps when in danger or being pursued by predators.
