Track Front Prints may not show fifth toe, prints about 1 1/2" (44mm) long; hindprints longer when heel leaves impression in soil, and showing 5 toes. Trail is usually found in soft earth on a ledge.
Sign Large burrow openings, 8–12" (200–300 mm) across. Gives loud, far-carrying chirp or whistle when alarmed.
Scat: Droppings variable, usually more than 1" (25 mm) long.
