American Pika Ochotona princeps

Track Seldom visible except in patches of snow or mud. Complete cluster, showing all 4 feet, is no more than 3" (75 mm) wide, and less than 4" (100 mm) from hindprints to foreprints. Forefoot has 5 toes, but reduced fifth toe often does not print. Hindfoot has 4 toes; is slightly larger than forefoot, but not greatly elongated. Track likely to be confused with that of a rodent rather than that of a rabbit.

Sign Best sign is a small pile of grass, placed on rocks to cure in the sun.
Scat: Small, sticky, round, black pellets.
