Shrew-mole Neurotrichus gibbsii

Sign Tracks and droppings seldom noticed. Best signs are molehills, long ridges heaved up by animal as it burrows near the surface of the ground, on lawns, in meadows, or in woodlands. These ridges differ from the tunnel cores of pocket gophers by being covered with leaf litter or small growing plants. Mounds of soil are often pushed out of burrows; such mounds do not contain an entrance.
