Description Also known as the bronze, kidney-headed or southern hammerhead, most common of all hammerheads. Coloring: gray above, white below. Head is long and compressed with great lateral expansion. One eye on either end of long head and are separated from nostril by distance equal to diameter of eye. Have median indentation at anterior margin of head.
Dimensions Up to 13'9" (4.2 m).
Warning Hammerheads are voracious predators and are dangerous to people.

Habitat Open ocean, Ocean or bay shallows, Estuaries, tidal flats & salt marshes.
Range Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Florida, Texas.
Discussion Often seen during the day in big schools, sometimes numbering hundreds. They are not considered dangerous and are normally not aggressive towards humans.
