Description The dense clumps of this perennial are made up of 10-18 in., erect, leafy based stems. Oat-like seeds are borne in a curved seedhead with a pointed tip.
Habitat Plains; rocky hills.
Range N.e. Illinois to North Dakota, e. Wyoming, and extreme s. Nevada, south to Louisiana, Texas, and Arizona.
Discussion Never found naturally in pure stands.
