Family: Asteraceae, Aster view all from this family

Description Forms dense colonies.
Flowers: in small, fuzzy, white heads clustered atop erect stem.
Leaves: basal, obovate, with 1 main vein, woolly; stem leaves tiny.
Height: 10" (25 cm).

Flower April–June.

Habitat Dry open areas.

Range Much of Canada from Mackenzie and British Columbia to Nova Scotia; south in East to Virginia and Tennessee, and west to Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, and the Dakotas.
