Family: Liliaceae, Lily view all from this family

Description A Florida native wildflower bearing single, spidery, fragrant blooms.
Flowers: 8" (20 cm) flowers with 6 narrow petals atop tubular base; toothed, funnel-shaped central cup has 6 radiating stamens.
Leaves: long, linear, strap-like.
Height: 18" (45 cm).

Flower June-September.

Habitat Wet prairies, woods, cypress swamps.

Range Florida, mainly southern half of peninsula.

Discussion There are several other Hymenocallis species, collectively called spider-lilies, in the Southeast, and they can be difficult to distinguish from one another.
