Family: Liliaceae, Lily view all from this family

Description An often low-growing lily with petals fringed with hairs.
Flowers: 1 1/2" (4 cm) wide, white; 3 petals with fringed edges and small purple crescent at base; 3 pointed, petal-like sepals.
Leaves: few, mostly basal, linear, grass-like.
Height: 4-20" (10-50 cm).

Flower May-July.

Habitat Dry, open forests.

Range From extreme southern British Columbia south along the eastern slope of the Cascades in Washington.

Discussion Some Calochortus have egg-shaped flowers and are known as globe lilies, while others have open flowers and are called mariposa lilies or star tulips.
