Family: Liliaceae, Lily view all from this family

Description A small Lily with usually only 1 broadly funnel-shaped, whitish flower that blooms at top of a stem about as tall as the very narrow basal leaves.
Flowers: about 3/4" (2 cm) wide; 6 oblong petal-like segments, mostly white, yellowish at base, purplish on the outside, the veins pale green or purple.
Leaves: 2-8" (5-20 cm) long, mostly a base, several, very narrow.
Height: 2-6" (5-15 cm).

Flower June-July.

Habitat Gravelly ridges and in rock crevices high in the mountains.

Range Alaska; south to northwestern Oregon, northern Nevada, northern Utah, and along the Rocky Mountains to northern New Mexico.

Discussion Of the 10 or 12 species in the genus, this is the only native one; the rest are Eurasian.
