Alternate name: Silver Thatch Palm

Family: Arecaceae, Palm view all from this family

Description A palm with a smooth, slender trunk, to about 6" (15 cm) in diameter, and long-stalked, fan-shaped leaves.
Leaves: 30" (75 cm) across, deeply palmately divided into pointed, linear segments; densely silvery-hairy below.
Flowers: small, creamy-white clusters tucked in among leaves.
Fruit: branched clusters of small, reddish- to purplish-black berries.
Height: to 25' (7.5 m).

Habitat Rocky pinelands, coastal dunes, scrub.

Range Extreme southern mainland Florida and Florida Keys; also Bahamas.

Discussion This palm is an endangered species in Florida.
