Family: Pentatomidae, Stink Bugs view all from this family

Description 1/2-3/4" (13-18 mm). Shield-shaped. Bright green with narrow yellow, orange, or reddish edges. Black spots on sides below. Outermost 3 antennal segments marked with black. Nymph has oval green body with red, yellow, and black markings.

Food Juices of foliage, flowers, and fruit from a wide variety of plants.

Life Cycle Keg-shaped eggs are attached in double rows of 12 or more on underside of foliage. They hatch in spring. 1 generation a year in the North, 2 in the South.

Habitat Crop fields, orchards, and gardens.

Range Throughout North America.

Discussion This pest damages apple, cherry, orange, and peach trees, and eggplant, tomato, bean, pea, cotton, corn, and soybean crops.
