Description Green, red or brown. Stripe through eye. Blotched lower back.
Dimensions 2.5-3.7cm. (1-1 7/16")
Voice Metallic peeping, high pitched.
Breeding November-April. Eggs laid underwater attached to vegetation.
Habitat Shallow waters.
Range North Carolina to Florida coastal plain.
Discussion Nocturnal. Rarely seen in mating season. Burrows underground and so very hard to find outside of a breeding chorus.
