Description A perennial with a mat-forming habit, the slender, leafy stems lying on the ground and ascending at the tip. Leaves are linear and old leaves clothe the stem bases, helping form the mat. Small, white and green flowers occur in terminal racemes.

Habitat Alpine meadows and rocky areas.


Range Labrador to Alaska, south in mountains to New Mexic, Arizona, and through Sierra Nevada in California.


Exposure Preference Sun.


Native Distribution Labrador to Alaska, s. to New Mexico mts. & California Sierras


Site Preference Alpine meadows & rocky areas


Soil Preference Dry, rocky soil.
