Description In bloom, Large-flower Bellwort's stems are less than one ft. tall, but later the forking stem lengthens. The bell-shaped, pale-yellow flowers are nodding and the perianth parts are often twisted. This clump-forming perennial's leaves are drooping and lily-like.

Habitat Rich, deciduous woods; thickets; floodplain woods.


Range Quebec and Vermont to Minnesota and the Dakotas, south to Georgia and Oklahoma.


Comments Bellwort works well in naturalized woodland plantings as well as shady, designed beds.


Exposure Preference Shade.


Native Distribution Quebec & Vermont to Minnesota, s. to Georgia & Oklahoma


Site Preference Rich, deciduous woods; thickets; floodplain woods


Soil Preference Humus-rich soils.
