Family: Liliaceae, Lily view all from this family



Description Reaching 1-4 ft. in height, Carolina Lily bears up to six reddish-yellow, spotted, nodding flowers with petals that curve backward almost to the base of the flower. The leaves of this perennial are mostly whorled.

Habitat Drier, upland woods and thickets.


Range Coastal plain, s.e. Virginia to Louisiana and Texas; also in the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia.


Exposure Preference Partial sun to shade.


Native Distribution Coastal Plain, s.e. Virginia to Louisiana, also in the mts. in Virginia & West Virginia


Site Preference Drier, upland woods & thickets


Soil Preference Sandy soils.
