Description Light brown, yellowish or greyish ground, overlaid with a distinct row of dark blotches that alternate with smaller blotches on the sides. Belly is distinctly darker in color than the underside of the tail. Keeled scales, 25 rows. Divided anal plate.
Dimensions 35.5-61cm. (14-24")
Breeding 6-10 eggs in a clutch.
Habitat Dry areas near floodplains and flatwoods.
Range North Carolina to Lake Okeechobee, Florida coastal plain.
Discussion Burrows underground.
