Dimensions 3.9-7.5cm. (1 5/8-3")
Voice Rasping, 4-5 times in a row.
Breeding March-May. Eggs attached to submerged rocks. 5-30 days for the eggs to hatch.
Habitat Aquatic. Streams or ponds near woodland.
Range Oregon, down California's west coast, into Baja California, Mexico.
Discussion Diurnal. Hides among rocks when threatened. Has a chemical defence to protect against fungi.
