Family: Hylidae, Treefrogs view all from this family

Description Warty skin. Grayish-tan/brown. 3 rows of black spots. Black stripe through eye.

Dimensions 1.9-3.2cm. (3/4-1 1/4")

Subspecies Striped - light stripe on upper lip. North Carolina through Florida coastal plain, also Mississippi.
Florida - spotted upper lip. Florida Peninsula.

Voice Rasping trill. Calls from vegetation on water.

Breeding All year if sufficient rains.

Habitat Temperate forests, temperate grassland, shrub-dominated wetlands, swamps, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, ponds, open excavations, seasonally flooded agricultural land, and canals and ditches.

Range North Carolina to Florida coastal plain. Also s. Mississippi.

Discussion Nocturnal. Sometimes spotted foraging in the day. Not an avid climber due to its small toe pads. Burrows in ditches.
