Family: Plethodontidae, Lungless Salamanders view all from this family

Description Brown-black. Sometimes with Brown/reddish-orange stripe down back to tail tip. Dark underside with whitish spots. Yellowish flecks on sides. 18 coastal grooves.

Dimensions 11-15cm. (41/2-6")

Breeding Breeds late spring-summer. Larvae hatch in fall.

Habitat Rock slides and under redwood/douglas Fir covered outcrops.

Range Oregon to California.

Discussion Not seen in moist environments like its counterparts. Often rock covered rubble and bark. Diest includes springtail, beetles and other small invertebrates.
