Description Breeding birds are striking (male especially) with brick-red face, throat, and breast. Fall birds lack this color, but have striking streaking.

Dimensions Length: 6" (15 cm)

Range Alaska, California

Voice Call is thin and high-pitched.

Discussion Breeds in Siberia and occurs as scarce migrant in western Alaska in spring and fall; rare vagrant further south on West coast, mainly in fall, favoring short grassland.
