Family: Laridae, Gulls and Terns view all from this family
Description Adult recalls much more numerous Arctic, but back and upper wings are uniformly darker gray (without translucent areas on wing), and breast and belly are gray (not white). Bill is black (not red) and has white forehead (not entirely black cap). Juvenile recalls juvenile Arctic, but has bright orange-buff wash on back, wing coverts, and side of breast.

Discussion Aleutian Island and western Alaskan specialty; presumed to winter in Pacific.
