Description Adult has pale gray back and upper wing, gray underwings, and otherwise mostly white plumage, including wedge-shaped tail and trailing edge to wing; in summer, underparts are faintly flushed pink. Hood is defined by neat black collar; feature reduced or absent in winter birds, which have a dark ear spot. Juvenile recalls winter adult but has dark wing bar.
