Mud nest bird????

A family of birds has taken roost and built a nest of mud in the rafter of our steel building house. They are a soft brown color with beige breast. Wing span of about 6". Trills to its mate. East Texas.

My guess would have been a barn swallow, but they have dark backs and forked tails. If your birds have brown backs, then they are either cave swallows or cliff swallows, all three make mud nests in the rafters of buildings, but the cliff and cave swallows usually nest in colonies.
