Rangewide, the black-and-yellow form of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is the more common. However, the black form mimics the distasteful Pipevine Swallowtail (an example of Batesian mimicry) and its local abundance reflects that of its model. In some populations, the black form predominates.
