Jenny Wren

What is the difference between the Jenny Wren and the house wren? I think I have a Jenny Wren that took over the woodpecker house that I built. She built a nest but now just shows up early morning and then we don't see her anymore. Some have told me it was a house wren. Which is it?

Birding Expert - George H. Harrison

There isn't a bird in the U.S. called a Jenny Wren. That name comes from English literature. The house wren is the common backyard bird in your region, and most likely the bird you are seeing. She may be laying eggs in the morning, and will not remain in the house to incubate the eggs until all the eggs have been laid. You can see and hear the house wren on the eNature Field Guide site.
