There are no baby or juvenile northern cardinals this time of the year. The bird lacking feathers in its tail has lost them somehow. Perhaps she was in the fight with another cardinal, or perhaps escaped a predator, or had an accident of some kind in which she lost her tail feathers. The feathers will grow back.
