House Centipede

David, I have looked up a lot of information on the Web and found that the insect in my home is a House Centipede. However, all that I have read does not indicate whether a bite from a house centipede would hurt my cat. I am worried she may try to play with one and get bit. Could this happen? Will the centipede hurt my cat if it bites her? Are there non-chemical ways to control these insects?

The House Centipede is not dangerous to a cat. The only place I could imagine a cat being vulnerable to a painful bite would be on the mouth or tongue. Your cat would learn quickly not to mess with them again. The effects of a bite from this species are considerably less serious than those of a honeybee sting.
